Question to everyone
In 3 days I'm having Gastric Bypass surgery. i'm thinking about blogging about the entire experience over the next year as a way of teaching others about what you go through and how my life changes in whatever ways it will.

I've been big my whole life and according to the doctors this surgery will cause me to lose 2/3rds of my excess body weight. I've been told by everyone that I know who has had the surgery that their lives have changed for the better.

My question to everyone is this; should I do this project and will anyone actually read it?

I'd like to think it would be helpful, but I don't want to be another annoying blogger. With how many people are now interested in getting this surgery I think it would be a good thing.

My reasons for getting the surgery are three fold:

1. I'm diabetic and this, according to many sources, cures it.

2. I have chronic acid reflux that causes me to wake up in the middle of the night thinking I'm having a heart attack.

3. I'm overweight and I'm sick of feeling like poo all the time. I see this as reboot on my life.

So think of this as a survey.

Do you think this will be helpful and would people get use out of it?

Cheers

Jess

I've only heard the "Oprah-fied" version of a GB surgery, so personally, for my own interest, I'd like to read it. If anything, it will be a good thing for you personally to do as it is your lj, to document everything that goes on with your body and your life during this process.

I'd love to read it. I'm really curious about it. A friend of mine did it and is now in the process of losing the weight. She told me that she's lost sixty-five pounds in two months. Now she wants to lose an additional fifty pounds before Comic Con. I'm wondering if this is typical results for someone who has gone through Gastric Bypass surgery and if it's healthy. You seem like someone who would be doing it the right and healthy way.

Actually that's close to typical. You are expected to lose 2/3rds of your excess body weight.

I hope to do it healthy. I think it would be nice to get a real woman's perspective from the beginning of the process throughout.

But in five months? Does it all come off at once, or more gradually?

Document it, yeah. Will you have pictures and vids accompanying it?

I didn't think about video but I can do pics for sure. Video might be interesting too. Hmmm..

Yeah, this could be interesting.

I would love to read about it. Especially from your perspective and not some ditz in a woman's magazine. (Maybe that sounds a bit harsh. Oh well.)

You could always create a friends group that's dedicated to the Gastric Bypass. That way you can add, those of us who want to read it, to the list.

I'm glad you're finally getting the operation and I wish you the best. It's a major step. *hugs*
